Decades in the industry. A new direction.
We spent years building conventional landscapes — then we started asking harder questions about what those yards were actually doing for the land, the water, and the wildlife around them.
30+
years combined experience
From conventional to conscious
Between us, we have over 40 years of professional landscape experience in the Kansas City metro. We've graded, sodded, irrigated, and maintained more conventional yards than we can count. We know that world inside and out.
But over time, we kept noticing the same things: irrigation systems running in the rain, lawns requiring constant chemical inputs just to stay green, and yards that offered nothing to the birds, bees, and butterflies that used to be everywhere. Something had to change.
Land Fix is our answer to that. We bring the same professional-grade installation quality and project management that comes from decades in the industry — but applied to native plants, natural stone, and landscapes that actually give something back.

Lydia Brawner
Co-founder & Lead Designer
Lydia has spent 20+ years organizing and coordinating landscape installations in the Midwest (Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois & Ohio) before pivoting to native plant design. She holds degrees in Horticulture (BS), & an Interdisciplinary degree in the Social Sciences (MS) from Iowa State University. She will listen & ask the right questions in order to guide you through the process. All the while, proving that native landscapes can be designed, orderly & fit into all styles of homes, using tested techniques. We can start small or go big, it depends what you are comfortable with. Invite bird species, butterflies, lower your maintenance & your water bill by incorporating plants which actually want to grow there! We can do better

Our philosophy
What we believe about yards
A yard should earn its keep
Every square foot of your property is either helping or hurting the local ecosystem. Native plants filter stormwater, feed pollinators, and build soil. Turf grass does none of those things. We help you make the switch without sacrificing beauty or function.
Stone should look like it belongs
Limestone has been used in this region for over 150 years. It weathers beautifully, supports plant life in the gaps, and looks like it grew out of the ground — because in a sense, it did. We source locally and install without mortar wherever possible.
Transition, not transformation overnight
We don't expect you to rip out your entire lawn on day one. Most of our clients start with one bed, one path, or one problem area — and expand from there as they see what's possible. We design with that phased approach in mind.
You should understand your own yard
We explain every plant we put in the ground — what it is, why it's there, what it needs, and what it'll look like in three years. An informed client is a happy client, and a yard you understand is a yard you'll actually love.
Ready to make the switch?
Bring your decades of lawn frustration. We'll bring the plants.
